Split Pea Soup, Peanut Butter and Jelly and a Dirty Stove
Last week I made split pea soup in the crock pot with a smoked ham hock. I soaked the peas overnight and cooked them for 9 hours and they were still a little hard. Must have been old peas. Bummer. I ate the soup anyway. This is the last of it, with some cut up bits of spare rib meat in there too.
Otherwise, it’s a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, apple and dried plums, salami and cheese and a fruit cocktail cup. Lunch is as lunch does 🙂
Pease Porridge Hot, Pease Porridge Cold
I don’t know nothing about nine days old, but this stuff is pretty good. The split peas and some chicken broth, carrots and a once cooked ham bone went into the crock pot in the morning. When I got home from work I sauteed up some onions while the squash cooked and shredded the meat off the bone into the soup. It was all very delicious.
